Elementalist @ Wednesday, June 4th 2008, 6:25 AM
Amazing. The shading is so meticulous. The color pallet and design go very well together. Some of the materials have a sheer look to them, I don't know if that was the intention, but it looks great.

The posture is a little strange though... I think the perspective on her right shoulder is off. She's got this Night at the Roxbury shrug going on.

The only thing I can see is maybe a resemblance to that girl from flcl. Besides that i don't know any characters with crazy-huge hands like that.

to be honest, this is kind of an ugly drawing. your shading is pretty good, but the legs and groin lines are way off. the hands are obviously so :P the eyes and hair are good.

Crash @ Sunday, May 25th 2008, 11:24 AM
I think if you're gonna be a douche, let's not do it anonymously. Thanks.
Anyway, I like this pic. It's true the bottomt half (legs esp.) are kinda off, but And is also drawing this at an odd angle. It's hard to practice something that's at an odd angle like this. The shading is awesome, and her face is definetely my fav <3
Also, I see no copyright infringement. It's also increasingly hard to create a completely unique character these days, so shut up. If the character was say, an exact copy of Haruko w/ different color hair named "Haraka" that MIGHT be copyright infringement.
Kalyandra @ Sunday, May 25th 2008, 12:24 PM
avatar
When you're doing solids, you've got to be careful. I see a lot of mistakes in this, most notably being the shakeyness of the lines and how generally rushed it looks. Some of the shading is good like on the hair and face, but in other places it looks rushed, particularly on the thigh area. When doing solids, it's best to make it as clean and precise as possible.

Now I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but I've seen way too many people lately copping out of doing a background by making it the same color as the page itself. Sometimes it looks good, other times it looks like laziness.

Overall I think this pic would be better off cleaner with some type of a background on it.

pinkle @ Sunday, May 25th 2008, 4:03 PM
it's just the style guys... i personally really like the simplicity of it. though the hands, even though intentionally large, look kinda off to me. the fingers coulda been done a bit better i think, atleast on her right hand.. they just dont look as creepy as the left. I like the band-aid on the knee and the torso looks nice. Good job
rtardftw @ Sunday, May 25th 2008, 5:43 PM
No such thing as original art, all artists are naturally theifs and there's nothing wrong with that. If you like the way something looks it hurt to replicate it and change it.

Claiming you did it first is different ;O
Alexxx @ Sunday, May 25th 2008, 6:41 PM

This pose is really odd, and thankfully you admit to that. Being in a blue void only makes it seem more awkward.

And yes, I've seen many people around that have latched onto TTGL style, and maybe thats why some people my see a similarity to a character from that series.

But, even if the hands are huge, you have to remember hand anatomy. The hand on the right seems bulgy and off.

that would be bob ross, he died a few years ago, was a nice guiy to introduce painting to people. That said, this is great, my main artwork is oil paintings like this. I think you did a great job with depth. I like how you massed the shadows together and showed form only in the light. Nice work
i was looking over your devaint page and i noticed you had a question about water colors. Something if you don't use that helps is the acrylic medium you can mix with them. That will allow you to do layers, cause otherwise it just pulls off when wet again. Also gouache is nice if you want to put in opake areas. Homer used to use gouache, which if you don't know winslo homer, he is one of the masters of water color. I have been into using gouache on black watercolor paper. I personally don't like painting on white surfaces, and watercolor is transparent, so you kinda always work on white. But you might want to look into working with gouache along with your water colors.

That is a beautiful ugly salmon. It's bizarre how much they change when they migrate. I really like the viewpoint and how the red of the salmon just pops. But, I can't make out whether that tuft of greenery on the right is grass in the foreground or skimpy trees in the background.

I remember a few years ago, my best friend and I made up a character named Nate but we sounded it out like nah-tey because we thought we were clever.

I can't stop staring at the shading on the hair. The shading on all of her plus the outline makes her look like she's glowing. It's really cool. Now I want to play just to see this princess.
cyanide shadow @ Sunday, May 18th 2008, 4:25 PM
you come up with the coolest poses. the work really well with your solid colouing. my favourite is the shading on her hair and the way you drew the mouth and her eye. the colour of her eye is beautiful too, sort of makes me think of a very serene sea. the star is amazingly cute. i didnt think anything could even be that cute. i really want to hug it.

I love the colors! and you always draw the most beautiful hands... with fingernails, which I'm horrible at.
You really know how to make shapes pop out, like her hair, horns, tits, arm glove things. Her nose looks kind of flat, though, maybe because of the black triangle and that there's no shading underneath it. kind of michael jackson.
also, I think the penises look a bit fake. at least the penis I'm around most doesn't have huge amounts of folding right at where the head ends. but basically I'm just nitpicking because this drawing is awesome and it would be possible for it to be even more so
Malpanka @ Saturday, May 10th 2008, 3:26 AM

Erie @ Wednesday, May 7th 2008, 10:29 AM
This is TOTALLY fantastic!! Amazing job! The only thing that could make it absolutely perfect would be some sort of shine or shadow/highlight on the eyes, they look very 2 dimensional and dark compare to the rest. Otherwise, this is FREAKIN SWEET.

this is incredible. What amazing detail.

Those markings to the left and the right of his chin are tricking my eyes into thinking they're his mouth, covered partially by a large beak-nose, or even two nostrils. Making him look hilarious.

Seraph @ Wednesday, May 7th 2008, 10:08 PM
D'awwwww!!
My only suggestion is that when you are copying a photo, make sure you have a good framework for all the three-dimensional structures of what the photo is OF, or else little details will end up looking kinda warped, such as with the belly plate in front of the flippers not quite seeming to line up with the rest of the shell.

If you're already doing that, well, it still needs a bit of tweaking, but otherwise, really nice job. This turtle is adorable and the colours are beautiful.
myuu @ Friday, May 9th 2008, 2:33 AM
